Padmashree Dr.Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil is recognized as a renowned personality in the field of Education. In this early age, he was highly influences by Rajashree Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. DR.Babasaheb Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. He was a staunch champion of the down trodden and weaker section of Society. He realized the need for mass education and took initiation in the field of Education by opening a boarding house at Kale in 1919, which was opened to all irrespective of any caste, color, creed of religion. He named the sanstha as “Rayat Shikshan Sanstha” as a symbol of Institution of the people and for the people. His main objective was to spread Education to the most remote area where the people led a very frugal life. He thought that poverty should not be obstacle in getting Education. So he started the “Earn and Learn scheme” which has been recognized as a unique tool for Mass Education. With the continuous efforts of Dr.Bhaurao Patil and his trained team, the entire face of rural population has been changed.

          The common people realized his missionary and devotional work and offered him unanimously the honors of the ‘Karmaveer’ .Mahatma   Gandhi had also praised his work and was deeply impressed by the tremendous contribution in the field of Education. The government of India honoured him by awarding ‘Padmabhushan’. University of Pune honoured him D. Lit. For his contribution to society.

       At present, Rayat Shikshan Sanstha is considered as one of the leading Educational Institution in the Asian continent.
